RUN FOR THE FUTURE, AND GIVE GIRLS A CHANCE

Toronto, July 26,2005. Lace up your sneakers and join Give Girls A Chance at its first annual 5K run/walk on the eve of International Youth Day's 20th anniversary.
Give Girls A Chance - a fundraising initiative for girls in Canada and around the world who seek a better life through education - invites runners and walkers of all ages to participate in Run for the Future at Toronto's Coronation Park on the waterfront, August 11, at 7:00 p.m.
Since 2002, Give Girls A Chance has raised more than $200,000 to educate girls and young women who, often for economic and cultureal reasons, have been denied their right to go to school. In Canada, that means helpin at-risk girls earn a high school diploma so they have a chance to fulfill their life goals. And in the developing world, education for girls is a cornerstone of progress for all.
International Youth Day was created by the United Nations to celebrate world youth and their contribution to society. The U.N. has identified 10 priorities for imporving young people's lives: education, employment, hunger and poverty, health, the environment, drug abuse juvenile delinquency, leisure activities, girls and young women, and the full and effective participation of youth in the life of society and decision making.
